Colin is potty trained...yeah!

Colin is finally potty trained. He is wearing underwear and staying dry all day. He has also become more independent and can use the potty all by himself now. We are so proud of him.

First Tooth (or should I say teeth)

Lauren has her first tooth...or should I say teeth. Her two bottom teeth broke through her gums on Aug 23, 2008. She has been a little extra drooly and a little more cranky then usual, but overall not too bad. I think the two top teeth are going to be coming through soon, too.

Look closely and you can see her two bottom teeth poking through. I will try to get a better picture soon, as it is very difficult to get her to open her mouth and show off her teeth.

First Day of Kindergarten

September 2, 2008 was Jordan's first day of kindergarten. He was excited to go to his new school. His teacher's name is Miss Delgado and he is in full-day kindergarten.


I walked Jordan to school on the first day. It was a nice walk. Jordan talked all the way to school. When we got in his classroom, we found his hook for his jacket and backpack...it was the last one. (His response...which is one we hear often...was "why do I have to be last?")

After school I met Jordan as he came out of the school with his class and we walked home. He told me all about his day. However, I am not sure what was true and what was made up. He had all sorts of stories about competitions between the boys and girls and climbing trees that were in front of the school and eating hot lunch (which cost him $0 dollars when in actuality hot lunch costs $3.25) even though he brought his lunch from home and ate it. He also told me that he thought pre-k school was harder and that he didn't learn anything on his first day. He hoped he would learn something on the second day. He also told me that he told his class that at night he became spiderman and he broke through his window at night and went outside and then when he came back, he taped his window back together. He did tell me he did a math paper though and that it was easy.

On the second day of school, Jordan got to ride the school bus from daycare. He told me that the bus driver was crazy and drove really fast and went through red lights. (sigh) Oh, and I think he said he climbed the rock wall at recess. Other then that, I have not been able to figure out what they are doing each day. Hopefully as time passes, he will be more willing to share his "real" day with me. :-)

I did see two projects that Jordan brought home from the first week at school...a book and a leprechaun catcher.

Trip to the Dentist

This morning the boys had a dentist appointment. It was the second time both of them have been to the dentist and they did great.

Jordan hopped right up into the chair and kept his mouth open wide for the cleaning and flouride treatment. At his next appointment in January he will be getting sealants on his back molars. The dentist was concerned about the size of his new permanent teeth growing in. They are bigger then the spaces of the baby teeth falling out and he said that something might need to eventually be done about this, but not right away.

At first Colin was a little hesitant and they weren't sure whether they would actually clean his teeth, but once I got in the chair and he sat on my lap, he also opened wide for a cleaning and flouride treatment. The dentist referred Colin to an orthodontist for a consultation because he has both an open bite and a cross bite. Although they wouldn't do anything immediately there are things they can do while he is young to help the cross bite.

Since both boys did so well, they got two coins each to use in the toy machine. Colin got a bouncy ball and alien parachute guy and Jordan got an alien parachute guy and a sticky animal. They each got a new tooth brush, flosser and flouride rinse. Lauren even got a new tooth brush and rubber ducky toy so she wouldn't feel left out. :-)

Knights in Shining Armor

They should be attached to the play gym and have toys dangling from them, but the boys find they make better weapons and dress-up props. They seem to think that everything that belongs to Lauren should also be for them. They have both tried out most of her stuff...sitting in the swing, exersaucer, bumbo, rocking chair, sucking on her pacifiers (which she doesn't like) and even trying on her headbands and putting bows and rubber bands in their hair. SILLY BOYS!!!

Lauren has been growing and changing...

It has been a while since we posted, so I have a lot to catch up on. I thought I would tackle a little at a time. We will start with Lauren. She is now 4 1/2 months old. She is growing way to fast. She is an overall happy baby and loves to smile and talk.

She has found sucking her thumb to be quite soothing and we just hope it doesn't become too much of a habit. However, it is nice because she can now self soothe and put herself to sleep. For the past two weeks, she has been sleeping through the night (most nights), which is very nice since before that, we had two weeks where she was up 2-3 almost every night.
