Eye checkup

Today, the boys had an eye checkup. Both boys did great at reading the letters on the screen at the other end of the room. When the letters started getting smaller, both boys would say, "They are too far away." Then they would be encouraged to read the letters again and they would read the whole line. When it was Colin's turn, he started by reading every row right to left instead of left to right. It wasn't until the doctor started putting a pointer under the letters and asking him to read the one with the pointer that he started reading the lines left to right. Both boys have really good distance vision and fall in an expected range for close up vision. In the end they were both happy they didn't need glasses.

Sunday Morning

Wow! The kids were so good this morning. There was very little fighting and when it was time to get dressed for church, both boys dressed themselves entirely by themselves. They even buttoned their own shirts and put their socks on. The only thing I helped Colin with was doing up the button on his pants. Oh, how I love when they take a step towards independence that I know they are totally capable of.

Usually I break a sweat Sunday morning trying to get the kids dressed because it involves repeating myself more times then I wish to admit, chasing them around the room, trying to button shirts while they are jumping up and down and I admit, I often get frustrated at telling them 10+ times to stop and help me.

Since they cooperated so well this morning, I had a few minutes to go outside and snap a few pictures of the kids all dressed up before heading off to church. Oh, and the thing that was even more amazing was that Jordan wanted to be in the pictures. (It seems that in every picture we have taken of him in the last several months, he has either been making a funny face and contorting his body in funny ways, or scowling at us because he doesn't want his picture taken.) I just loved it when he asked to be in the pictures and then gave me his best smile while trying to give Lauren a hug.

Even with this little adventure outside, we still got to church about 20 minutes earlier then usual.
