Pictures of Lauren

Lauren is almost 8 months old. She is developing her own little personality and it is so fun to watch her. She is a happy baby most of the time and loves her big brothers. They definitely know how to make her laugh. When laying on the floor, Lauren can push herself backwards a little bit at a time, but right now I don't think it is totally intentional. She still sucks her thumb and does well eating baby food. So far, the only food she has tried and did not like was peaches.

Going to the circus

We went to the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey circus on September 5, 2008. Grandma and Grandpa came along with us. It was a lot of fun to see the people doing flips in the air and all the animals doing tricks. We went early so we could see some of the animals up close and meet some of the circus actors and actresses. (Grandma got a bunch of additional pictures that we haven't gotten from her yet, so I don't have too much to post.)

Jordan gets to go to the zoo

Jordan and I took a special day to go to the zoo together (with no brother or sister). We had a lot of fun. It was a surprise for him.

Jordan got to ride a carousel for the first time. He wanted to do it more then once.
He rode a bear and an elephant. He also climbed inside a turtle shell and slid down a huge tree slide.

He fed the birds and saw the butterflies. He stood with the gorilla and got to pet several goats, a rabbit and a small pony.
He said his favorite part of the zoo was seeing the lions. We had a lot of fun and he was excited to come home and tell his brother all about it.

The boys thought it would be fun to dress Lauren up. She is wearing a Little Mermaid crown and enough jewels fit for a queen. (August 16, 2008)

Swimming Lessons

The boys have been taking swimming lessons for the past two months and they are really enjoying it. They are learning how to float with assistance, put their face in the water, and kick. In these pictures, their teachers name is Rebecca, but Colin called her Merbecca. They both really like Merbecca.

Colin is potty trained...yeah!

Colin is finally potty trained. He is wearing underwear and staying dry all day. He has also become more independent and can use the potty all by himself now. We are so proud of him.

First Tooth (or should I say teeth)

Lauren has her first tooth...or should I say teeth. Her two bottom teeth broke through her gums on Aug 23, 2008. She has been a little extra drooly and a little more cranky then usual, but overall not too bad. I think the two top teeth are going to be coming through soon, too.

Look closely and you can see her two bottom teeth poking through. I will try to get a better picture soon, as it is very difficult to get her to open her mouth and show off her teeth.

First Day of Kindergarten

September 2, 2008 was Jordan's first day of kindergarten. He was excited to go to his new school. His teacher's name is Miss Delgado and he is in full-day kindergarten.


I walked Jordan to school on the first day. It was a nice walk. Jordan talked all the way to school. When we got in his classroom, we found his hook for his jacket and backpack...it was the last one. (His response...which is one we hear often...was "why do I have to be last?")

After school I met Jordan as he came out of the school with his class and we walked home. He told me all about his day. However, I am not sure what was true and what was made up. He had all sorts of stories about competitions between the boys and girls and climbing trees that were in front of the school and eating hot lunch (which cost him $0 dollars when in actuality hot lunch costs $3.25) even though he brought his lunch from home and ate it. He also told me that he thought pre-k school was harder and that he didn't learn anything on his first day. He hoped he would learn something on the second day. He also told me that he told his class that at night he became spiderman and he broke through his window at night and went outside and then when he came back, he taped his window back together. He did tell me he did a math paper though and that it was easy.

On the second day of school, Jordan got to ride the school bus from daycare. He told me that the bus driver was crazy and drove really fast and went through red lights. (sigh) Oh, and I think he said he climbed the rock wall at recess. Other then that, I have not been able to figure out what they are doing each day. Hopefully as time passes, he will be more willing to share his "real" day with me. :-)

I did see two projects that Jordan brought home from the first week at school...a book and a leprechaun catcher.
